Fangchenggang Port to develop imported alumina handling service

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Oct 20 – According to source, Fangchenggang Port plans to develop the handling service of imported alumina in the coming year. Now they conduct the feasibility research for the project.
"Considering that Yunnan will increase large volume of aluminum production in the coming year, the alumina market in Southwest China would see tight supply. We plan to establish new equipment for handling imported bulk alumina," said an officer from Fangchenggang Port, adding that the investment budget stays at around RMB15 million (USD2.2 million) for single berth.
It is learnt that China already imported about 2.97 million tons of alumina in the first three quarters of this year, against about 1.65 million tons in total last year.
Current mainstream prices for imported alumina in China stand at USD290-295/t CIF China.
