BMW plans to produce five new electric products within two years

On August 5, BMW Group released the fiscal data of the second quarter. In the first half of 2020, the group totally invested EUR2.734 billion (USD3.244 billion) in research and development, slightly down by 2.2% YOY.
BMW announced that the investment on research and development was mainly used to promote electrification. It is said that, BMW Group plans to continue investing more than EUR20 billion (USD35.60 billion) in research and development by 2025.
Recently, BMW Group announced to take sustainable development as one of its strategic priorities and put forward periodic target for emission reduction. The target is by 2030, the carbon dioxide emission per automobile will drop by one third compared with 2019. Besides, BMW Group will cut carbon dioxide emission by increasing electric automobiles. By the end of 2021, BMW Group will provide five new electric products around the world. By the end of 2023, BMW Group will provide 25 new energy automobiles globally, half of which will be electric automobiles.
