A red alert for air pollution was issued on October 22 at 0:00 am in Luoyang, Henan following the issue of an orange alert. The change to red alert reflects the continuing deterioration of air quality in the city where the heavy air pollution might continue in the coming two days amid unfavorable diffusion conditions.
During the red alert period, Luoyang government will take compulsory measures to cut emission, along with other suggested measures. As demanded by the government, a total of 15 companies related to iron and steel, coking, alumina, primary aluminum, carbon, copper smelting and so on should strictly implement emission reduction measures in strict accordance with requirement under the red alert.
