    1. Market Highlight

In May, prices for ilmenite in Panzhihua edged down, but downstream consumers held strong intention of lowering prices due to the sluggish titanium dioxide market; prices for high titanium slag went up with decreasing spot supply; prices for titanium tetrachloride continued to move up with strong downstream demand; prices for titanium sponge went up and suppliers had saturated orders; some titanium mill product suppliers raised prices affected by the price rising of raw material titanium sponge, while demand from civil used titanium mill products was still weak.

In May, prices for Chinese titanium dioxide dropped and downstream demand shrunk, and suppliers were not confident about the future market. Export prices for titanium dioxide moved down, and overseas clients mostly took a wait-and-see attitude with export volume less than that of last year.

As for ferrotitanium, prices for Chinese high grade ferronickel went up; prices for low grade ferronickel rebounded; European ferrotitanium prices stabilized in general; export prices of high grade ferronickel from Russian market rose slightly.
