Coal imports in Shanghai customs area increased by 8.9% YOY from Jan to Aug 2018

According to the statistics of Shanghai customs, from January to August 2018, the imported coal and lignite (hereinafter referred to as "coal") of Shanghai customs area was 9.843 million tons, an increase of 8.9% YOY (the same below).
In August 2018, Shanghai customs area imported 1.299 million tons of coal, up by 30.2% MOM and by 84.3% YOY.
In the first eight months of this year, the Shanghai customs area imported 7.079 million tons of coal from ASEAN, up by 20.2% YOY, and they accounted for 71.9% of the total coal imports in the area during the same period. Nearly all of them are came from Indonesia. During the same period, the import from Australia was 1.721 million tons, an increase of 20.9%; that from Russia decreased by 48.6% to 7.07 million tons, accounting for 7.2% of the total coal imports in the customs area during the same period.
