1. Market Highlights
In early November, silicomanganese market was ran weakly and prices for the material kept decreasing owing to the steel products' production limitation in Hebei and Shandong. In mid-November, the bidding prices of HBIS for December decreased to RMB6,700/t (USD1,012/t) VAT included delivered D/A and the low-end price for silicomanganese declined to RMB6,300/t (USD952/t) VAT included EXW D/P in main production areas. Before entering late the month, mainstream prices for silicomanganese 65/17 were RMB6,300-6,500/t (USD952-982/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB400/t (USD60.42/t) from early November . At the beginning of late November, prices for the material increased sharply . Producers raised their quotations largely owing to the tight spot supply as a result of the production suspension of Ningxia Pingluo and the limitation of Zhongwei; but the market saw rare deals and purchases only made by some consumers as most steel plants had finished building stocks. By the end of late November, prices for silicomanganese 65/17 had climbed to RMB6,700-6,900/t (USD1,012-1,042/t) EXW D/P and are expected to keep increasing in a short time with the quotation in disorder. The bidding price for high carbon ferromanganese of steel mills in December is RMB6,200/t (USD937/t) VAT included delivered D/A, down by RMB300/t (USD45.32/t) from November; but prices for ferromanganese increased substantially despite the range was less than that of silicomanganese driven by higher prices for silicomanganese and manganese ore. In early December, prices for high carbon ferromanganese 65%min increased to RMB6,700-6,900/t (USD1,012-1,042/t) VAT included EXW D/P and are expected to move up in a short time.
In early and mid-November, mainstream prices for manganese ore continued to decrease by RMB3/dmtu (USD0.45/dmtu) from early this month with still rare deals limited by low prices for downstream alloys . However, prices and quotations for the material both increased supported by high prices for silicomanganese alloy . It is predicted that prices for manganese ore would continue to climb in the coming week.
