Chinese aluminum fluoride prices show an upward trend

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Sep 17 - From last week, aluminum hydroxide prices rose by around RMB200/t (USD30/t) to RMB2,200-2,300/t (USD335-350/t) ex works, so Chinese aluminum fluoride producers raised offers and refused to sell at below RMB9,000/t (USD1,370/t) delivered. Early this month, deals were only concluded at RMB8,300-8,900/t (USD1,263-1,355/t).
An aluminum fluoride producer in south China reported that they signed around 3,000t of the material with a buyer in Xinjiang at around RMB9,500/t (USD1,446/t) delivered this week. “We offer RMB9,800/t (USD1,491/t) for new deals,” said the source, adding that they sold around 1,000t last month to Xinjiang at only RMB8,900/t (USD1,355/t).
The source explained that aluminum hydroxide prices rose by around RMB600/t (USD91/t) to around RMB2,200/t (USD335/t) ex works this month. Therefore, they have to raise aluminum fluoride prices.
Based on the capacity of 180,000tpy, the producer is out of production in September and may resume production next month. They now hold around 4,000t in stock.
Another aluminum fluoride producer in south China confirmed that they offer RMB8,500/t (USD1,294/t) ex works right now and refuse to conclude deals at lower prices. “We now mainly carry out contracts signed early this month at RMB8,300-8,400/t (USD1,263-1,279/t),” said the source, who believed that prices for new deals late this month will move up, because of the aluminum hydroxide prices increase. They mainly conclude deals in south China.
The plant is running fully at the capacity of 1,500tpm and holds no stock.
