Chinese silicon metal prices soared against the trend in July. With persistently increasing prices for raw material electrode and oil coke, the production cost of silicon metal increased repeatedly, producers of the material in Yunnan, Xinjiang and other regions raised prices for silicon metal to maintain production while producers in other regions raised prices accordingly with downstream buyers purchasing from hand to mouth.
