AM Statistics: Chinese zinc oxide output up by 10% YOY H1 2017

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Jul 17 - Based on Asian Metal database, China produced around 112,000t of zinc oxide in the first half of 2017, up by 10% YOY. The output in June was around 18,000t, up by 2.8% MOM.

After the strict environmental protection policy, the zinc oxide output started rebounding from June and producers in the industry increased production. The operating rate recovered to 52% in June from 49.7% in May. In Q3, the output may continue to climb up.
In June, the output in Jiangsu and Zhejiang rose by 20% and 24% MOM respectively to around 3,800t and 3,100t. Shandong remained the biggest zinc oxide production province in June with a volume of around 4,900t, down by around 5.7% MOM.
