Chrome ore imports up by 42 times at Fangcheng port from Jan to Apr

According to Fangcheng Customs, Fangcheng port sees chrome ore imports of 245,000t in the first four months of this year, up by 42.4 times YOY and both deliveries and value of goods exceed the total figures last year.
Chrome ores at Fangcheng port mainly come from countries of South Africa, etc. Reserves of chrome ore are scarce in China with smaller deposit and sporadic distribution. Above 80% of chrome ores rely on imports and thus the domestic market is in high independence on imports. Meanwhile, affected by supply-front reform and bottom-out stainless steel inventory in China, the solid demand for high carbon and low carbon ferrochrome increases in the market. The high market demand and profitability directly result in surging imports of chrome ores. The logistics condition is improving in Fangchenggang city in accompanied with more convenient clearance. Thus, more and more enterprises from other cities import or export goods through Fangcheng port.
