China’s imported bauxite stocks by month
In spite of bauxite supply increase from Australia and Guinea, China’s imported bauxite stocks dropped continuously over the past seven months. On the one hand, Malaysian bauxite supply was in shortage because of export license problem and rainfall in Q4; and on the other hand, Chinese alumina refineries in Shandong continued to increase production because of alumina market recovery . The demand for imported bauxite may continue to increase in December . Due to Malaysian bauxite shortage, the demand for bauxite from India, Brazil and Solomon Islands may continue to increase.
Based on the data, the current stocks will be enough for consumption in 164 days, down from 169 days in late October. In November, three alumina refineries witnessed imported bauxite stocks decrease.
