Russian silicomanganese market quiet

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Jun 16 - Russian silicomanganese 65/17 market keeps quiet and local suppliers mainly make deals with regular clients this month. The mainstream prices of the material are around USD925-965/t this week, the same as those of last week.
A Russian silicomanganese 65/17 producer claimed that their price of the material is USD945/t at present, unchanged compared with that of last week. "Although some suppliers have raised quotations for the material over the past two weeks, few deals are concluded with the new quotations. And the purchasing volume from local buyers sees no improvements now, so I think that the price will not increase sharply in the near future,” said the source, adding that they will stabilize the price this month and watch the market.
The producer’s annual production capacity of silicomanganese 65/17 is about 48,000t with a monthly output of 3,500t. They produced about 3,000t in May and will produce 3,000t in June based on firm orders. They hold about 500-700t in stocks now.
A Russian silicomanganese 65/17 trader confirmed that the mainstream prices of the material are stable at USD945-965/t currently in Russia, rarely changed over the past two weeks. “We plan to purchase 1,000t of the material to rebuild stocks this month and want to purchase the material at USD700-750/t delivered duty unpaid, but most suppliers raised prices of the material to USD800/t delivered duty unpaid in the middle of June, so we put off making purchases and hold a wait-and-see attitude towards the market,” said the source.

They received some orders of 800t of silicomanganese 65/17 at USD890-945/t in early May, so they sent about 150t in May and 650t in the first half of June. They have not received any new orders so far this week. They still hold about 200t in stocks.
