Ukrainian silicon metal price stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 May 16 - Ukrainian silicon metal 5-5-3 market keeps quiet with few deals concluded in the spot market this month. The mainstream prices of silicon metal 5-5-3 are stable at UAH55.0-58.0/kg (USD2,189-2,308/t) early this week, rarely changed from those of last week.
A Ukrainian silicon metal 5-5-3 consumer claimed that the price of silicon metal 5-5-3 from their supplier is about UAH58.0/kg (USD2,308/t) at present, the same as that of last week. “We hold about less than 10t of the material in stocks, which were bought at UAH58.0/kg (USD2,308/t) late last month, so we will not make purchases again this month and watch the market for a while,” said the source.
The consumer noted that they heard that the export price of silicon metal 5-5-3 decreased to lower than USD1,550/t FOB China from Chinese suppliers this month, so they are waiting for lower quotations from local traders now. The consumer’s monthly consumption of silicon metal 5-5-3 is about 10t, rarely changed over the past few months.
Another Ukrainian silicon metal 5-5-3 consumer confirmed that the price of silicon metal 5-5-3 is about UAH58.0/kg (USD2,308/t) early this week, unchanged compared with that of last week. “We also traded silicon metal 5-5-3 in 2015, but demand for the material has kept weak in the domestic market, so we only purchase the material to produce aluminum products now,” said the source, adding that the quotation for the material they received from their Chinese supplier was about USD1,600/t CIF Odessa early this week, decreasing by USD100/t from that of early this month. They are waiting for lower quotations this week.
