Chinese mercury metal prices rise slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Dec 12 – With the increasing demand of mercury metal from the downstream industry, Chinese mercury metal 99.999% prices increase further these days from RMB710-720/kg (USD114-115/kg) to RMB720-730/kg (USD115-117/kg) VAT included. Besides, the suppliers note that prices for mercury metal will continue to go up before the end of the year coming.
One supplier with a monthly dealing volume of about 8-10t reported that this week, their selling prices of mercury metal 99.999% rise to RMB720-730/kg (USD115-117/kg) VAT included, up from the prices of RMB710-720/kg (USD114-115/kg) two weeks ago. Demand of PVC materials and the building materials is rebounding in domestic market as the year end is approaching.
According to the source, he sold a batch of materials at RMB728/kg (USD116/kg) VAT included at early this week, while last week the prices were still RMB722/kg (USD115/kg). “I think the prices will still go up in the near future as the direct users intend to replenish some stock,” explained the source.
Another producer of mercury metal also confirmed the rising prices of mercury metal currently. The source also note that the prevailing prices VAT excluded are at RMB620-625/kg (USD99-100/kg), increased by about RMB5/kg (USD0.8/kg) compared with that of last week.
