With the Spring Festival approaching, tight supply of ferrochrome in the market and power price increase, many steel makers increase their purchasing prices of high carbon ferrochrome to be yielded in December and January, so ferrochrome prices go up in the spot market. Meanwhile, many ferrochrome smelters are active in purchasing chrome ore with more deals concluded and slight price increase. Although chrome ore suppliers in other countries also raise offers, most Chinese buyers could not accept those prices. As South Africa enters into Christmas holidays since the middle of December, many Chinese buyers are waiting for their offers after the holidays.
