Chinese crude stainless steel output up 11.46% in Q3

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Dec 11 – Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprise Association (CSSC) has announced the output of crude stainless steel in Q3, 2011 and the apparent consumption of Chinese crude stainless steel in the first three quarters.
In Q3, 2011, Chinese stainless crude output was 3.17 million tons, up by 326,000 tons or 11 . 46% compared with that in Q3, 2010 . The Cr-Ni series crude stainless steel output was 1 . 87 million tons, up by 461,000 tons or 32 . 7% year-on-year, and the Cr-Mn series crude stainless steel output was 580,000 tons, down by 56,000t or 8 . 8% year-on-year . The output of Cr series crude stainless steel was 720,000 tons, down by 79,000 tons or 9 . 9% year-on-year.
In January-September of this current year, the output Chinese stainless crude steel totaled 9.376 million tons, up by 1 . 063 million tons or 12 . 8% compared with that in the same period of last year . The output of Cr-Ni series crude stainless steel was 5 . 489 million tons, up by 1 . 276 million tons or 30 . 3%; that of Cr-Mn series crude stainless steel was 1 . 716 million tons, up by 21,000 tons or 1 . 2%; that of Cr series crude stainless steel was 2 . 17 million tons, down by 235,000 tons or 9 . 8%, all on a year-on-year basis.
Import and export: In the first three quarters of 2011, China’s imported stainless steel accumulated to 670,000 tons, down by 159,600 tons or 19.2%; and the exported stainless steel totaled 1 . 753 million tons, up by 670,000 tons or 61 . 9%, both on year-on-year basis.
Apparent consumption: In the first nine months, the national apparent consumption of stainless steel reached 7.169 million tons, up by 120,000 tons or 1 . 7% year-on-year.
