In April, brown fused alumina market was not so active in Chinese domestic market. Though smelters around Luoyang had to suspend production during the Peony Show, the supply of brown fused alumina was still enough to meet the demand from both domestic and overseas markets. As alumina price continued going down by RMB50-100/t in April, white fused alumina price became soft, but the concluded volume was stable.

Late April, the exchange rate of RMB broke 6.5. Insiders analyzed it is caused by three factors, which are market, reserve of foreign exchange and micro adjustment. As US dollar is depreciating continuously, all the foreign exchange is appreciating relatively. From the basic reason, the reserve of foreign exchange is increasing along with economy picking up stimulated by micro-adjustment policies. By the end of April, Chinese foreign exchange has reached to USD3000 billion. From the aspect of structure of import, the quantities of crude oil and iron ores increased greatly, and it is helpful to depress the transmitted inflation.
