Xinyu Iron & Steel issues production capacity replacement plan related to electric arc furnaces

In accordance with the requirements of the Guiding Opinions of the State Council on Resolving the Contradictions of Serious Overcapacity, Opinions of the State Council on Resolving Excessive Capacity of the Iron and Steel Industry and Realizing Development amid Hardships and the Implementation Measures for Capacity Replacement in the Iron and Steel Industry, Xinyu Iron & Steel issued its production capacity replacement plan for electric arc furnace energy saving and environmental protection upgrading project.
According to the plan, Xinyu Iron & Steel will build an electric furnace representing 1 million tons of steelmaking production capacity per year from January 2022 and the furnace will go into operation in December 2024. In addition, the company will start to dismantle two electric furnaces, which totally represent 1 million tons of steelmaking production capacity per year, three months before the above new furnace is put into operation.
