Nippon Steel increases contract prices of nickel, chromium stainless steel wire rods

Nippon Steel on December 20 announced the price adjustment for stainless steel wire rods contracts signed during December 2021 and February 2022 (with delivery from January-March 2022). The price of nickel-based steel (SUS304) will be increased by JPY35,000/t (USD306/t), and that of chrome-based steel (SUS430) will be increased by JPY25,000/t (USD219/t), including adjustment of alloy surcharge and basic price
. The price of nickel stainless steel wire rods of the company has risen for six consecutive quarters since September-November 2020 contract, and that of chromium stainless steel wire rods has risen for four consecutive quarters since March-May 2021 contract; the cumulative increases of nickel and chromium stainless steel wire rods were JPY155,000 (USD1,356) and JPY60,000 (USD525) respectively.
