Global crude steel production down by 9.9% YOY in Nov

Global crude steel production from the 64 countries reporting to World Steel Association reached 143.3 million tonnes (Mt) in November 2021, a decrease of 9.9% from November 2020.
In November 2021, crude steel production in Asia and Oceania recorded 98.30 Mt, down by 15.5% YOY; that in CIS increased by 5.8% YOY to 8.8 Mt; that in EU (27 countries) rose by 3.7% YOY to 12.90 Mt, that in other parts of Europe increased by 4.4% YOY to 4.3 Mt. The production in the Middle East decreased by 5.3% YOY to 3.8 Mt, while that in North America and South America increased by 9.3% and 3.5% YOY respectively to 9.7Mt and 3.9 Mt.
In November, China produced 69.3 Mt of crude steel, down by 22% YOY; India produced 9.8 Mt, up by 2.2% YOY; Japan produced 8 Mt, up by 10.7% YOY; U.S. produced 7.2 Mt, up by 13.8% YOY. Based on estimation, Russia's crude steel production was 6.5 Mt, up by 9.4% YOY; that in South Korea was 5.9 Mt, up by 2.7% YOY; that in Germany was 3.4 Mt, down by 0.3% YOY; that in Turkey was 3.4 Mt, up by 6.1% YOY; that in Brazil was 3.1 Mt, up by 2.5% YOY; that in Iran declined by 5.2% YOY to 2.7 Mt.
