EcoPro BM to build first cathode material plant in Europe

South Korean battery materials manufacturer EcoPro BM will build its first plant in Debrecen, Hungary of Europe with an estimated investment of EUR728 million (USD822 million) and provide about 631 new jobs. It is the company's first factory outside South Korea.
Construction of the first phase of the Debrecen plant would be completed in the second half of 2024, with the second phase a year later. The plant is expected to achieve a production capacity of 108,000 tons of cathode material per year in the second phase, which is expected to produce batteries for 1.35 million electric vehicles.
