Whitehaven Coal's commercial coal down by 4% YOY in Jul-Sep

On October 14, Whitehaven Coal Ltd, a miner in Australia, released its quarterly operation announcement. According to the announcement, from July to September, the company produced about 4.66 million tons of commercial coal, compared with about 4.86 million tons in the same period last year. It sold about 5.16 million tons of raw coal, up by 15% from about 4.49 million tons in the same period last year.
Based on the announcement, from July to September, Narrabri produced about 1.53 million tons of raw coal, down by 7% YOY; and it produced about 1.36 million tons of commercial coal, down by 16% YOY.
In the same period, the commercial coal output of Maules Creek open pit coal mine, which is 75% owned by Whitehaven, was about 2.94 million tons, up significantly by 49% YOY; the sales volume of commercial coal was about 2.44 million tons, up by 11% YOY.
From July to September, Whitehaven Coal sold a total of about 4.65 million tons of coal, down by 23% YOY.
In the fiscal year 2020-21 (as of June 2021), the total output of raw coal of the company was about 20.56 million tons, basically the same as the same period last year; the output of commercial coal was about 16.92 million tons, down by 7% YOY; and the sales of coal posted about 19.80 million tons, down by 1% YOY.
