Nippon Steel recently announced that the domestic prices, including basic prices and alloy surcharges, for the nickel and chromium stainless cold-rolled steel sheet in October remained unchanged, while the price of plates was raised by JPY10,000/t (USD88/t) due to tight supply and demand at home and abroad
. This is the first flat after four consecutive increases in the prices of nickel cold-rolled sheet, and the first time that the company revised the basic price of plates due to the supply and demand factor since its restructuring in 2019. Since June 2020, the cumulative increase in the price of plates amounted to JPY125,000/t (USD1,101/t).
