Turkish Jan-Aug coal imports up by 2.9% YoY

According to Turkey's foreign trade statistics, in August 2021, Turkey imported 4.037 million tons of coal, up by 20.0% from 3.364 million tons in the same period of last year, and by 26.4% from 3.193 million tons in July. Among them, thermal coal imports were 3.267 million tons, up by 25.1% year on year and 17.3% month on month; coking coal imports were 583,000 tons, down by 6.5% from last August and up by 160.9% compared with July 2021.
Turkey's coal imports totaled about 26.13 million tons in the January-August period, up by 2.9% from a year earlier. Among them, thermal coal imports totaled 21.319 million tons, increasing by 1.9% from the same period of last year; coking coal imports were 3.796 million tons, up by 4.2% from a year ago.
