Coal exports down by nearly 70% YOY in Aug in Canada's Ridley Terminals

According to the data from Ridley Terminals of Prince Rupert in Canada recently, coal exports from the terminal recorded 304,500t in August 2021, down by 68.3% YOY and 55.8% MOM significantly.
The data show that in the month, the coal exported by the Ridley Terminals was all coking coal, with a year-on-year decrease of 25.6%; the export volume of thermal coal from the terminal in the month recorded zero, while the export volume was 60,000 tons in July.
From January to August, the total coal export volume of Ridley Terminals reached 4.3 million tons, a decrease of 42.1% over the same period last year. In particular, the terminal exported 1.12 million tons of thermal coal, down by 69.8% year-on-year; that exported 3.2 million tons of coking coal, a decrease of 14.6% year-on-year.
In August, the export volume of petroleum coke from the Ridley Coal Terminal was 74,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 17.2% but a month-on-month decrease of 3%. From January to August, a total of 986,000 tons of petroleum coke was exported, up by 4.6% from the corresponding period last year.
