SICOMINES SARL (SCM) recently announced that the first batch of copper cathode was produced from the phase two of its Cu-Co Mine Project constructed by China Railway Resources Group Co
After the phase two of the project reaches full capacity, SCM expects to produce 253,500t of copper cathode and 5,180t of cobalt hydroxide annually, making it the only DRC-based super-large modern mining company with access to the whole industry chain.
With registered capital of USD100 million, SCM is an international mining joint venture among GECAMINES S.A . and Chinese enterprises including China Railway Resources Group and PowerChina Resources Ltd . With total project investment of USD6 . 7 billion, it is currently the biggest Africa-based non-energy mineral mining company invested by China.
