Capacity elimination plan made public for Fangchenggang Iron and Steel Production Based Project

Fangchenggang Iron and Steel Production Based Project, with annual capacity of 8.5 million tons of iron and 9.2 million tons of steel, was approved by National Development and Reform Commission in May 2021, which represented a major strategic adjustment and transformation of the iron and steel industry layout in China.
In accordance with relevant documents and guidelines issued by National Development and Reform Commission, an additional iron-making capacity of 3 million tons per year (Mtpy) and steel-making capacity of 5Mtpy should be eliminated in Guangxi where 3.94Mtpy of iron-making capacity and 5.7Mtpy of steel-making capacity were already shut down. The capacity elimination plan will be made public from June 29 to July 26, 2021.
