1. Market Highlights
Encouraged by the continuous price rises of raw materials, CRC and HGI coil prices were pulled by RMB300-400/t (USD46-62/t) in April. The market performance did not show obvious improvement due to the limited demand from downstream industries. However, steel mills tried to hike prices according to higher raw materials' prices. HRC prices increased more than CRC and HGI coil prices did at the same time, so CRC and HGI coil producers' profit reduced accordingly and became less active in production. Due to the price increase in Chinese domestic market and higher raw materials' prices in the international market, CRC and HGI coil export prices edged up further this month. By the end of the month, the government announced to maintain 13% export rebate for CRC and HGI coil.
In the international market, CRC and HGI coil prices in many Asian countries including Malaysia, Vietnam and India surged up sharply this month due to higher raw materials' prices and relatively tight supply.
