1 Market Highlights
1.1 Chinese origin bauxite
In February, the price of Chinese origin bauxite fell slightly. Downstream consumers completed stock replenishment early this month and few deals were closed during the Spring Festival holiday.
1.2 Imported bauxite
Few deals for imported bauxite were closed in China in February. The sea freight soared after the Spring Festival in late February and the import price went up.
1.3 Alumina
In February, alumina prices declined in China and more alumina plants resumed production, weighing on the price.
1.4 Aluminum fluoride
In February, the demand for aluminum fluoride was weak, but the supply was sufficient, so the price declined.
1.5 Primary aluminum
The demand for primary aluminum was weak in February due to the Spring Festival holiday and the social inventory of aluminum ingot kept increasing, reaching about 1.15 million tons by late February.
1.6 Secondary aluminum alloy ingot
Due to the Spring Festival holiday in February, aluminum scrap suppliers stopped production for the holiday and the supply of aluminum scrap was tight. As the price of primary aluminum continued to rise, the price of secondary aluminum ingot rose accordingly.
