Chinese South Graphite to resume amorphous graphite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Dec 20 - As the biggest producer in China, Southern Graphite Co. suspended production about 20 days ago due to the production safety inspection and plan to resume production in early next January, holding no stock now.
"We suspended production about 20 days ago due to the production safety inspection, and would resume production next week," a source from the company disclosed, adding that they hold no stock presently and expect to produce around 30,000t in next January, in line with normal months. As most producers could resume production next week, the producer predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese amorphous graphite would stabilize in the coming week.
Based on a production capacity of 600,000tpy, they recorded an output of around 500,000t in 2019 and nearly 400,000t so far in 2020. They produced around 30,000t in November and expect a similar volume in next January. Now they have no inventory, down by around 20,000t from late last month.
The current mainstream prices of Chinese amorphous graphite 75%min 0-3mm stand at RMB1,450-1,500/t (USD223-230/t) Inc-VAT EXW D/A 180 days, up by around RMB50/t (USD7.69/t) from early last week.
