Shanxi steel industry to implement ultra-low emission differential electricity price policy from Jan

Department of Ecology and Environment of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Development and Reform Commission, Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Provincial Department of Finance and Shanxi Provincial Energy Bureau jointly issued a notice, deciding to implement differential electricity price policy for iron and steel enterprises in the province with ultra-low emissions since January 10, 2021. For enterprises which fail to finish ultra-low emission transformation, the policy of electricity markup will be implemented based on current electricity price catalog or market trading price till enterprises passed the ultra-low emission evaluation.
The requirements include "organized emission, unorganized emission and clean transportation mode". The electricity price will be increased by RMB0.01/kwh (USD0.0015/kwh) if enterprises fail to meet one of the requirements, and RMB0.03/kwh (USD0.0046/kwh) will be increased if enterprises fail to meet two of the requirements, RMB0.06/kwh (USD0.0092/kwh) will be increased if all the requirements are not meet. For those complete ultra-low emission transformation, there will be no increase in electricity price.
The scope of implementation involves all iron and steel enterprises in Shanxi, including joint iron and steel enterprises, independent iron smelting enterprises, independent steel rolling enterprises, independent pelletizing enterprises, casting or ferroalloy enterprises having sintering pellets or blast furnaces.
