Coronado Coal, an Australia-based metallurgical coal producer, recently suspended its metallurgical operation in Virginia.
Department of Mine, Mineral and Energy of Virginia stated that Coronado Coal shut down its Buchanan coal mine in Virginia on December 16 mainly because of a glut in coal production caused by trade talks between China and the US.
Coronado Coal said it would reopen the mine and continue operating on January 1.
In 2017, the Buchanan mine produced 4.9 million tons of metallurgical coal.
