Shanxi: enterprises to be fined at least RMB100,000 for discharging extra heavy-metal-contained pollutants into soil

From January 1, 2020, Shanxi Provincial Rules on Anti-soil Contamination will go into force in Shanxi, indicating that an anti-soil contamination administration system has been put in place in this province.
According to the Rules, if an enterprise involved in the heavy metal industry discharges into soil heavy-metal contained pollutants beyond official allowances, it will be required by local eco-environmental authorities to suspend production and undertake rectification measures, and will also be fined over RMB100,000 (USD14,286) and below RMB1 million (USD142,859). In case of quite serious pollution events, the involved enterprise will be forced by local government to shut down.
