1. Market Highlights
As the demand was soft, HC ferrochrome prices showed a downward trend in the first three weeks of September. Although the demand was soft, LC ferrochrome producers didn't intend to lower their prices due to cost pressure in the first three weeks of this month and LC ferrochrome prices kept stable . In late September, prices for HC ferrochrome and LC ferrochrome increased slightly encouraged by the increase of ferrochrome bidding prices for October.
As the demand was soft, Chinese silicochromium and chrome metal prices edged down in September.
In early September, prices for chrome ore in Chinese ports moved up slightly affected by the increase of USD-RMB exchange rate; in the remaining part of September, prices remained flat due to stable demand.
In late September, overseas miners were resolute to keep their prices firm, so CIF China prices for chrome ore edged up.
