Generally,ferrosilicon demand from steel mills and magnesium plants was weak during thewhole month affected by the traditional Chinese lunar New Year holiday.
Asmost of ferrosilicon furnaces were running during the holiday, many plantspiled up inventories after the holiday. The spot market witnessed downtrend offerrosilicon 72%min prices obviously in the third week of this month, and edgeddown further in late of February due to slow downstream demand and highoperation rate for ferrosilicon plants.
Exportprices of ferrosilicon firmly stood at the same level as that before the Springfestival holiday supported by appreciation of RMB. Most of ferrosiliconexporters are reluctant to sell at lower prices in the whole February.
Thedemand from steel mills and magnesium would rebound to regular level in earlyMarch, and insiders believe Chinese domestic and export prices of ferrosiliconwould both go up slightly in short term.
