1. Market Highlights
In Chinese market, all types of silicon metal prices showed the downward trend in November. The doldrums in downstream industry starting from September finally put a dent in the silicon metal market, which witnessed price slump and sluggish transactions this month. On the other hand, entering November, Many southern Chinese silicon metal producers had to lower their prices for promotion to get cash flow, under big pressure of paying electricity bills, especially in Sichuan, where the charge rose in the dry season. The second factor only plays a minor role in the price decline. As silicon metal prices kept declining in November, downstream consumers purchased more cautiously and kept watching the market, making the whole silicon metal market quiet in November. Transaction volume declined obviously. Many southern silicon metal plants reduced or halted their production earlier than previous years due to thin profits. The operation rate dropped sharply and the spot goods in the market became less. For export market, as)oversea buyers held high stocks purchased in August, downstream consumers reduced their purchasing volume accordingly.
