1. Market Highlights
Prices for steel plate dropped by RMB400-600/t (USD58-88/t) in major Chinese domestic markets during the month, and those in other Asian markets also declined. Attributing the sharp price decrease to significant price decline of steel billet as well as the slow market, most traders showed little confidence in the market prospect and were worried about a further price decline. Meanwhile, end users were inactive in placing large orders and only purchased in small quantities seeing the downward price trend. Reporting narrowed profits caused by the decreasing price, mills' production activity was weakened to a large extent. Considering the overall market inventory runs on a low level, insiders think that the price for steel plate may stop going down in December.
