1. Market Highlights
Chinese silicon metal prices stopped dropping in October. In the domestic market, the 19th NPC had resulted in strict environmental and security inspections; thus, both upstream and downstream players cut production to some extent. Then raw material prices in the upstream market held high and prices for some silicon metal rebounded accompanying rising electricity prices during the normal-water period; but the price rises were limited by shrinking downstream demand. As for the export market, overseas customers had stocked a lot before in case of further price rise, so they had no intention to purchase this month, leaving few export deals.
