The Chinese rare earth market witnessed continuously declining prices and sporadic deals in September as a whole, with PrNd, dysprosium, terbium, europium products’ prices slid rapidly and dysprosium products’ prices had hit new lows
. However, the lanthanum and cerium products prices moved up due to tight supply in spot market . Affected by the CAREI’s suggestions on rare earth national reserves, the market failed to be supported to maintain stable, even some major plants failed to stabilize the prices by purchasing raw materials in mid-September . By the end of September, the Guangdong Rising non-ferrous Group and Southern Rare Earth Group called on to cease production in order to support the market . However, most magnet plants and other downtrend industries held sufficient stocks and had no intention to make replenishments, which may weaken the market in the coming month.
