The Chinese vanadium market witnessed increasing prices. In early month, steel mills needed to rebuild stocks for Spring Festival, so the purchasing volume from downstream market jumped. Meanwhile, most ferrovanadium ad vanadium nitride plants halted production or run at low operating rate. Therefore, the market supply was tense and the prices went up in the first half month. In late January, ferrovanadium 50%min had increased by 26.8%, while those for vanadium nitride had increased by 41.7%. As for the vanadium pentoxide flake 98% market, the prices showed upward tendencies. Up to the end of January, the prices went up by RMB11,500/t (USD0.8lb).
