Steel plate prices rose sharply throughout the first three weeks of the month, supported by low inventories, but they fell back in most domestic markets in the fourth week, dragged down by weak demand during the off-season. Meanwhile, most traders were reserving judgement regarding the market outlook and remained cautious about supplementing inventories. Considering that demand from downstream industries is likely to get stronger during “Golden September”, insiders deem the steel plate price is likely to go up slightly over the month ahead.
