Chinese brown fused alumina market had no sign to improve in December and most producers held more than 1,000t of inventory in hand. Chinese producers had not adjusted their quotations and focused on cash withdrawal as the market remained sluggish. Some refractory producers purchased brown fused alumina for the Spring Festival but the whole demand was not strong. Some brown fused alumina producers in Henan had stopped production and not resumed yet while others only kept operation rates at a low level. Generally speaking, demand softened and Chinese brown fused alumina exporters reported few orders as the Christmas and New Year holidays were approaching in December.
Chinese white fused alumina market kept flat in December with prices of white fused alumina segment sands at RMB4,700-4,900/t. Most producers focused on cash withdrawal as the New Year was approaching. Demand did not improve this month. In export market, most Chinese traders only obtained small orders and demand remained weak due to the coming Christmas and New Year holiday.
