BEIJING (Asian Metal) 31 Dec 13 - According to the statistics published by China Customs, the import of silver power, semi-manufactured silver, silver jewelry and unwrought silver was 219,988kg in November, down by 6.47% year-on-year and down by 4.7% compared with that in October 2013.

Japan, Taiwan and the US were the top three exporters to China, with the export of 107,096kg, 53,445kg and 24,021kg in November respectively.

China imported 2,345,943kg of silver powder, semi-manufactured silver, silver jewelry and unwrought silver in the former eleven months in 2013, down by 12.49% year-on-year.

Silver import decreased continuously in the third quarter, while silver export increased month-on-month and year-on-year in November. On the one side, as photovoltaic industry face tight funds in the last two months of the year, silver powder import decreased in November. On the other side, facing the low silver price in China, some silver smelters released silver to overseas market banks to obtain working capital.

China exported 142,680kg of silver power, semi-manufactured silver, silver jewelry and unwrought silver in November, up by 20.31% year-on-year and up by 13.8%% month-on-month. The top three export destinations were Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand.
