Prices of stainless scrap kept a downward trend this month with a markdown of around 6
. 4%, mainly influenced by sharp price decreases of raw materials as well as the poor market performance . Besides, being unconfident of the coming market and lacking of money, most traders refused to hold large inventories . In addition, downstream customers were also reluctant to purchase in large quantities . Seeing the current inventory runs at a low level, insiders deem it is likely to stop going down in December . Besides, in view of the high supply but low demand, the price is unlikely to rebound . Statistics showed that China’s crude stainless steel production reached 13 . 66 million tons in Jan-Sep of this year, up by 19 . 8% year on year.
