In September, steel mills resumed production, but the demand for refractory was still slow. The brown fused alumina market still ran slowly, and the price of brown fused alumina was stable at RMB4,050-4,300/t (USD662-703/t) ex works for segment sands (tilting furnace). Most brown fused alumina producers were out of production without intention to resume production, and some just operated furnaces at night when the power price was low. As foreign buyer gradually came back to market from summer holiday, the export market became a little busier, but the demand was still weak and most deals were concluded through tax evasion methods.
White fused alumina market ran slowly, and the mainstream price of white fused alumina was in the range of RMB4,700-4,900/t (USD768-801/t) ex works for segment sands. Export market was still dull, and only some traders concluded orders with small volume.
