End of Summit

Asian Metal's leverage in the metal industry continues to grow in strength in disseminating information to stakeholders, and this was aptly demonstrated during its maiden World ferrosilicon Forum held at Yuehai Hotel, Hunan, from Oct 16-18, 2008.

The forum, among others, brought together more than 100 delegates from 80 companies who exchanged their ideas and experiences on opportunities and challenges being posed in the ferrosilicon industry.

Mr Li Jvcai, Vice-President of Erdos Metallurgy Industrial Group Co., Ltd, Mr Zhang Xifeng, Vice General Manager of Ningxia Commercial Group Co., Ltd CNSIC and Chairman of Ningxia Commercial Foreign Trade Co., Ltd, Mr Subodh Panchal, Managing Partner of Kastwel Foundries & Past President of The Institute of Indian Foundrymen have made speeches on the development of ferrosilicon market, the ferrosilicon supply and demand in Chinese, Indian and European market.

Hot discussion was focused on the future of ferrosilicon market, Chinese export duty, environmental problems, the demand from steel mills and magnesium smelters. It is generally accepted that the demand of ferrosilicon will decrease greatly in the coming months due to the global financial crisis.
