Asian Metal visits Qixing High-tech Aluminum

Friday Gao, manager of Base Metals Department from Asian Metal visited Wudi Qixing High-tech Aluminum Co., Ltd on the morning of April 9, 2014. Mr. Gao met with Mr. Duan Chunbin and Mr. Zhao Jianquan, vice general managers from Qixing High-tech Aluminum and Mr. Wu Qingchao, purchasing manager of the company.

Mr. Zhao and Mr. Wu are in charge of raw materials purchase in the company. Mr. Zhao told Asian Metal that the designed annual alumina capacity for their refinery is 2 million tons, but the running annual production is only 300,000 tons. On the one hand, the alumina market is sluggish; and on the other hand, the bauxite supply is tight. Currently, they have no plan to expand production. According to Mr. Wu, they mainly consume Indonesian bauxite and the Indonesian export ban influenced their purchase greatly.

Regarding the current alumina market, Mr. Duan pointed out that the price is too low and many alumina refineries have cut production. Meanwhile, he disclosed that they mainly consume alumina by themselves as they own one aluminum ingot smelting plant with the annual capacity of 200,000tpy.
