OVERVIEW
★ Strengthening demand for imported bauxite in Shanxi and Henan of China
For the short local bauxite supply in China, more inland alumina refineries in Shanxi and Henan turned to imported bauxite by taking technical change. New big alumina projects move to coastal regions of China, relying on imported bauxite.
★ Global bauxite market sees intensifying competitions
Because of the bauxite supply increase in Guinea and East Asia, the market faces intensifying competitions, which pushes bauxite producers to improve bauxite quality or cut shipping cost.
★ Chinese inland imported bauxite consumers face tight transportation challenge
Chinese relevant ministries issued strict policies on trucks transportation in 2019, leading to serious bauxite transportation problem from ports to refineries.
★ Alumina to be listed on SHFE
SHFE is scheduled to launch the alumina futures in 2020. Alumina futures will become a key tool for aluminum enterprises in the market.
★ New capacity in Southwest China brings a new change for the aluminum supply
Most on-going aluminum projects in Southwest China would be completed and start commissioning in 2020, which brings a new change for the aluminum supply.
