Overview
Asian Metal will hold the 4th World Selenium & Manganese Forum on 12th and 13th May, 2016 in Chongqing, China, when producers, traders and consumers of electrolytic manganese, selenium powder and selenium dioxide across the world will congregate to discuss the development and outlook of the global electrolytic manganese industry.
Over the past twelve years from 2004 to 2015, the electrolytic manganese market suffered worst over the years of 2006 and 2015. In 2006, Chinese electrolytic manganese price plummeted from RMB9,000/t at the beginning of the year to as low as RMB8,400/t, and then rebounded to around RMB12,000/t at the end of the year. The price kept rising in 2007 to the peak of RMB30,000/t. But the market became depressed again in 2015 as the price saw a decline of 30% from the start of the year and improved at the end of the year. Whether the upward trend will last in 2016? All the market participants should make joint efforts as the overall economy remains sluggish.
As for the selenium powder market, the price hit a new low in 2015 in twelve years. After a brief bloom at the end of 2010, the price of Chinese selenium powder continued to drop for nearly five years. The market situation is still grim with feeble downstream demand and high inventory level. What should the participants do to get out of the predicament?
