  • As an advocator and practitioner of industrializing magnesium alloy in China, senior engineer Jianyong Cao has been working in manufacturing management and operation of magnesium and magnesium alloy for nearly a decade. He founded Chongqing Magnesium S&T Co., Ltd and was appointed to be GM by 2000. He led his team to firstly apply magnesium alloy in motorcycle parts and then use it in dynamic tools, auto parts and machinery section with mass production. Cao has held the post of executive member of China Magnesium Association, member of China Materials Research Society and vice chairman of China Metal Working Society, posting and participating in “the Tenth Five-Year” and “the Eleventh Five-Year” important science and technology projects and 863 magnesium alloy project. He was awarded second prize of 2011 scientific and technological progress and ministerial level advanced individual of China Non-ferrous Metals Association and he has more than ten invention patent and utility model patent on magnesium alloy. Cao also participates in formulation of six national standards including State Magnesium Alloy Safety Production. He established Chongqing Boao Magnesium Company and held the post of Chairman in 2006 and made the company survive the price hikes of global magnesium materials and financial crisis during 2008 and 2009. The company has received a large amount of orders from world-famous automobile and electric tools producers and achieved vast export to Europe and North America, being a well-known enterprise with the largest production scale and product category.

  • Zhanghong Huang, doctor of engineering, senior engineer. Graduated from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in May, 2009, his research direction is magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy material processing during his Ph.D and master's period. He started working in R&D and Technology Center of Western Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. in July 2009 and he acts as a core member in research of more than 10 scientific research and industrialization projects such as "large-sized titanium plate, titanium steel composite board producing technology (2007BAE07B02)", a branch project of national science and technology supportive projects, 2012 provincial enterprise technology transformation special project “Wide magnesium alloy plate production line technological transformation”, 2012 annual Shannxi science and technology innovation project “Wide magnesium alloy plate development”, 2012 Shaanxi major science and technology special project “large-sized magnesium alloy plate production and key technology and industrialization”, etc. In 2011, he was appointed to be the chief young technical expert, mainly specializing in titanium alloy bar/forging development and magnesium alloy material development, etc. He published more than 30 theses on domestic and foreign academic journals, including 10 collected into SCI and 12 in EI. He applied for 10 patents, being the first applicant in five patents, and he was authorized in three patents. He won a second prize awarded by China Non-ferrous Metal Industry Association.

  • Gaofeng Quan is engaged in researches of transport equipment lightweight theory and its application, focusing on the machine shaping theory and application technique of magnesium alloy, alluminium alloy and other metal metrix composites. He participates in over 20 national and provincial science and technology projects, over 20 enterprises cooperated projects, issued over 110 essays and 2 monographs. He obtained several science and technique awards, 11 patents authorized by the country and 9 patents of utility model.

His major research areas are alloy development, processing technology, and castability evaluation etc. In 2009, Dr Zhen became the Manager of Research and Development at Magontec Xi’an. He took up his current role as Technical Director, Magontec Asia in 2011.
